I am a jewelry artist, a creator of wearable art. From a young age, I have been intrigued with compositions of color, texture, and design that emerge when I combine raw materials. Initially this took the form of fashioning my own clothing, and later, creating floral bouquets, garden landscapes, and home interiors.
Ultimately, after being introduced to jewelry-making by my sister, I found my passion for a new art form. This evolved into the creation of Kay Kopp Designs in 1999. In my jewelry designs I bring harmony to color, texture and form. All of my pieces are one-of-a-kind originals and reflect classic lines with contemporary flair. Elements in nature inspire my palette as I create with natural stones and gemstones, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, hand-worked metals, and glass beads.
Pediatric occupational therapy is my first profession, and I work with children with disabilities at the University of Washington in Seattle and in my private practice. Jewelry making is my “therapy”. I am a native of the Pacific Northwest and live in Bellevue, WA with my husband, Steve. We have two grown sons.
